The paper describes main trends in development of geographic information technologies and systems (GIT, GIS). Technologies, which are actually used, are still being developed on proprietary standards. A lot of geographic information systems are used separately from the rest of enterprise information systems - this implementation leads to inadequate usage of possibilities, being offered by GIS (e. g. advanced analyses of data, data management, information visualization).
The paper overviews main modern development trends in geographic information technology, and shows possibilities of GIS and GIT usage for enterprises.
V příspěvku popisujeme hlavní vývojové trendy oboru geografických informačních technologií a systémů. Technologie, které jsou používány v současnosti, stále ulpívají na proprietárních standardech. Geografické informační systémy jsou používány odděleně od ostatních informačních systémů v organizaci, což má za následek nedostatečné využívání možností, které GIT poskytují.
Příspěvek si klade za cíl představit hlavní moderní vývojové trendy v oblasti GIT, ukázat možnosti GIS a GIT v souvislosti s informačními potřebami společnosti a podniků.
