Parallel worlds. Well known term from the sphere of science fiction literature. But is it relevant to the field of geoinformatics? I will try to show that it is. Geoinformatics and geoinformation technologies provide us with new powerfull tools. Some of them go in the direction of parallel worlds. The simplest contemporary example is virtual reality. We create VR models, navigate them, evaluate real world using them and create new real world features on their basis. But this is only the firs step. We will create new breed of real world models in the near future. Some of them will simply follow development of real world, but the most advanced of them will influence (or maybe control) the processes in the real world.
All the mankind will be part of many parallel worlds ..
