Mapping has undergone significant changes: digital cameras, satellite images, laser scanners, radar. Fastest and most inexpensive mapping products are orthophotos. Line maps are more expensive, but are required for GIS operations. Shape file data are preferable to CAD files. An example for a lowcost GIS using Quickbird Imagery and ArcGIS for the City of Tirana is presented.
